ICPW2007: 2nd International Conference on the Pragmatic Web
22-23 Oct. 2007, Tilburg, The Netherlands
Dear Colleagues,
Get this date in your diary for ICPW'07, when the conversation continues! Chaired by Simon Buckingham Shum, Mikael Lind and Hans Weigand, ICPW'07 builds on the momentum of the 2006 inaugural conference.
The World Wide Web is now a ubiquitous medium for human interaction, shaping how we present ourselves, find and meet others, share and debate ideas, and record memories. The Pragmatic Web conference provides a unique forum to envision and debate the next generation Web, bringing the specific focus of how we negotiating relationships and shared meaning.
The Pragmatic Web conference offers common ground for dialogue at the nexus of research and development in Web usability, Web-enabling physical and online communities of discourse, and the impact (intended and unintended) of computational infrastructure and formal semantics on the Web. This conference is also distinctive in providing a forum for work within the rich traditions of Pragmatics and Pragmatism, to address the practical challenges and opportunities raised by the Web. Some challenges would be how the web becomes actable in the sense that it makes it possible for stakeholders to communicatively act towards each other. This also brings forward the issue of personalising information and actions channelled through the web.
If you're on the mailing list, you'll receive the full announcement in the New Year...
